The Process:

  • Assess the student loan subsidiary and key competitors to determine key market strengths and areas of opportunity.

  • Develop a plan to help the bank identify options – acquire, sell, partner, or build.

The Result:

  • Market assessment identified a number of options for the bank to consider.

  • Based on the options presented, the bank determined that it would sell the subsidiary to a leading American student loan company.

  • The result – the creation of a new North American student loan company, one that was well-positioned to grow in the Canadian student loan marketplace.
